He’s inactive with a hamstring right now, so don’t put him in your lineup. If he’s cleared, practices fully, and the quarterback starts throwing to him about four or more times while he’s getting more playing time, then you can start him.

Bench him in most leagues — he barely gets the ball and his big scores come from the rare long play, not steady touches. You can stash him in deep leagues as a cheap lottery pick or for bye-week depth, but only start him if he suddenly gets noticeably more passes or playing time because of an injury or role change.

Jalen Pitre matches up very well inside and, with Stafford likely limited and Atwell getting fewer snaps, he probably won’t see enough chances to be reliable — sit him. Only start him if your other options are worse or you’re willing to gamble, and check Stafford’s health and Atwell’s playing time before kickoff.

Draft Atwell in the late rounds as a bench pick only. He can make a big play on a long catch, but he gets few chances, has some drops, and only helps if Stafford stays healthy and he gets a bigger role.
